Getting to Sa Ky port
Since Ly Son is an island, you have no other option but to first arrive at the Sa Ky harbor. The most popular and convenient choice is to get there via public transport.
If you arrive by airplane
If you arrive in Quang Ngai by airplane, you can either choose to go directly to Sa Ky port by taxi or hop onto bus number 12, which takes you to Quang Ngai Bus Station. The distance is about 45km and will cost you 40,000VND per person. After that, take bus number 3 to get to the port, the first bus leaves at 5:30 and costs 13,000VND per person. Be aware of the time since there are only 3 vessels leaving in the morning and afternoon. To catch the speedboat at 7:30, make sure to take the 5:00 or 5:45 bus.
Schedule for bus 12: the first bus leaves at 6:30 and the last bus arrives at 17:30
Schedule for bus 3: the first bus leaves at 5:30 and the last bus arrives at 18:15
If you arrive by train
If you arrive in Quang Ngai by train, it is best to simply take a cab straight to Sa Ky port, the trip is about 20km and will take you less than an hour to get there. For those who have a limited budget, you can also take the bus. From the train station, you will have to walk about 3km to the bus stop and catch bus number 3.

Going to Ly Son
From Sa Ky port, tourist will choose between conventional ships or speedboats. Since conventional ships take almost 2 hours to reach the destination while speedboats take less than half the time, the latter tend to be the more popular option. Tickets for speedboats are opened from 6:30 every day and tend to be sold out very quickly, so you might have to consider booking the ticket beforehand. However, note that it is more complex for foreigners to acquire tickets to Ly Son. You will have to go through a few procedures at the Quang Ngai police station since Ly Son is considered a military area, therefore, don’t forget to bring your passport with you when buying the tickets. Each ticket costs 115,000VND per person, 50,000VND for motorbike and in case tickets have been sold out you can also pay 100,000VND to get on the boat without a seat.

Morning: 2 turns at 7:30 and 8:00
Afternoon: 1 turn at 13:00 or 13:30
Ly Son-Sa Ky
Morning: 2 turns at 7:30 and 8:00
