Can Gio Itinerary

This is a new and exotic day tour for tourists. You will have a chance to discover the National Biosphere Reserve of Can Gio and immerse yourself in its natural beauty and learn about its wildlife. Here is an example travel plan for you from the city centre of Saigon to Can Gio.

Usually, if you travel by bus or coach, it will take you about 2–3 hours to reach Can Gio.

9:00 AM: You can start your day trip with a visit to Monkey Island and explore Can Gio Museum with its archaeological relics as well as unique flora and fauna.

10:30 AM: Travel to the Mangrove Forest by boat and visit Rung Sac Military Base by canoe, where you’ll get to see crocodiles, wild cats, otters, pythons, playful monkeys, and more.

12:00 AM: Get to 30/4 Beach where you can see Vung Tau on your left and Tien Giang on your right. Have the option to take a swim and enjoy local seafood right at some food stalls on the beach or in Hang Duong Market. Then you can have lunch at a nearby Vietnamese restaurant.

1:30 PM: Following lunch, it is the perfect time to get to Can Thanh town and have a closer look at the residents, their lifestyle and the beauty of Can Gio.

3:30 PM: You can drive to Vam Sat Eco Tourist Site and take a canoe trip to visit Vam Sat, traveling past the flora typical of mangroves, and then visit a bat reserve. Experience crab and crocodile fishing on the boat and visit the crab ponds to learn about their lifecycle and how to collect the best crabs for eating. Enjoy seeing a variety of wild animals and admire the bird sanctuary in Vam Sac. Continue to visit the crocodile farm to learn about the process of crocodile-egg laying and visit the newborn crocodiles.

5:00 PM: Finally, wrap up the trip with a visit to the Whale Mausoleum which displays a 17m-long skeleton of the whale drifted ashore in 1971.

6:00 PM: Say goodbye to Can Gio and head back to HCMC.
